What to expect at shelters

  • People will be sleeping on cots. 
  • People are advised to bring pillows and blankets 
  • People should bring any medications they need
  • People should bring supplies needed for infants and children
  • Food for special dietary needs
  • Toiletries
  • No pets allowed. Only animals permitted in Red Cross shelters are service animals; for safety and health reasons  

 What to expect at pet shelter

  • A crate or carrier large enough to house your pet(s) for several days
  • Three-day supply of pet food
  • Pet medications
  • Towels/bedding
  • Leashes and muzzles if needed
  • Favorite toy
