General Information
Description of ProgramFederal emergency assistance program provides limited financial aid to Nassau and Suffolk residents for rent or mortgage emergencies. One-time emergency grants made during funding period usually beginning March until funds are exhausted for calendar year. Contact the main office for screening and referral to one of the community centers for intake. Program administered by United Way of Long Island for the bi-county region and fact sheet available on United Way website www.unitedwayli.org.

Client Information
EligibilityEmergency situations for rent or mortgage only. Eligibility guidelines issued annually by Federal Government. Applications must be submitted at approved nonprofit agency sites in client's County of residence. Applicants must be ineligible for assistance through the local Dept. of Social Services. APPOINTMENT REQUIRED.
