    Programs that provide emotional support, information and guidance in a variety of settings for individuals whose gender identity is not in harmony with their birth assignment, and who may have a desire to change their biological sexual characteristics to conform physically with their perception of self and want to explore their options including hormone replacement therapy, gender transition and/or reassignment through surgery.

    Counseling ServicesCenter Counseling Services are offered through a partnership between the Pride Center and the State University of New York at Albany School of Social Welfare program. Low or no fee counseling services are offered to address issues such as relationship and couple issues, family and parenting issues, healing trauma and abuse, sexual orientation and gender identity, depression and anxiety, addictions and recovery, and living with HIV and chronic illness. These services are provided by MSW graduate interns under the supervision of a licensed therapist.AlbanyCENTER COUNSELING SERVICESPRIDE CENTER OF THE CAPITAL REGION
    PRIDE FOR YOUTH/COUNSELING PROGRAMProvides short-term counseling to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer adolescents. Youth may be seen for up to one year free of charge. Social work staff specialize in coming out issues, adolescent depression, and family mediation. Clientele is limited to youth between the ages of 12 to 30. Youth must be free of psychotic symptamology or be under the care of a psychiatrist if they have psychiatric diagnosis. Preference is given to youth in Nassau and Western Suffolk, although youth will be seen from surrounding areas as the workers' caseload permit. Parental consent is not required.     Support Group ServicesTrust is a weekly, open psycho-educational group for high school students. It provides a safe, structured setting in which youth can discuss issues related to sexual orientation. Facilitated by trained professionals, topics include isolation, communication, and decision-making. Confidentiality is maintained. TRUST meetings are NOT therapy sessions.
